Scientists find 26 genes promoting lung cancer (AP)

DNA samples are loaded onto a gel while searching for variations in genetic samples that would point to someone's succeptibility to lung cancer in San Francisco, California in 2005. Scientists have identified 26 genes whose mutation plays a role in the commonest form of lung cancer, including genes that may be receptive to novel drugs or existing treatments used to tackle other tumours.(AFP/Getty Images/File/Justin Sullivan)AP - In the largest effort of its kind, scientists have identified 26 genes that, when damaged, appear to promote lung cancer.
