Dell profits disappoint as tech spending weakens

surprisingly steep drop in quarterly earnings on Thursday and
said companies around the world are cutting back on technology
spending, sending its shares tumbling 10 percent and sparking
fears of weakness in the whole tech sector.

Reuters - U.S. stocks tumbled on Friday, led
lower by tech shares after computer maker Dell warned that
companies worldwide are cutting back on technology spending.
Reuters - Personal income tumbled unexpectedly
in July and inflation-adjusted spending shrank as government
economic stimulus waned, but consumer spirits rose this month,
a hint the economy may muddle through its woes.
Reuters - Boeing Co said on Thursday it
made its "best and final" contract offer to its largest labor
union, including concessions the aerospace manufacturer hopes
will help avert a strike.
